Examine the beauty of nature

Nature House Villa Elfvik is next in the Makers of Espoo Day Tell All interview series! In honour of the Finland 100 centenary year, Espoo Day will be celebrated throughout the weekend of 25–27 August 2017. The interview series Makers of Espoo Day Tell All brings forth awesome local operators that make Espoo Day possible.

Villa Elfvik is the City of Espoo environmental education centre. The Nature House promotes a sustainable lifestyle by offering its visitors ideas on how to behave in a more sustainable manner. The architecturally valuable Art Nouveau villa stands on the edge of the Laajalahti Nature Reserve. A number of short nature trails begin at the Nature House. The Nature House serves as a Nature school for schools in Espoo. Classes can come for a whole day and make field studies. It also gives further environmental education by offering training courses for teachers and day care staff.

The Nature House’s Espoo Day bat excursions have been wildly popular. This year, they also feature an English-language nature excursion for families. Watch a video of our interview with the Head of Nature Riitta Pulkkinen and their producer intern Hanna Kokkonen!
